The Canfield Bridge-Builder Award

Congratulations to the winners of The Canfield Bridge-Builder Award - Katie Boles and Mark Ziegelman! Thank you to all who came out to play and honor them.

2018 award recipients - Katie Boles and Mark Ziegelman

The Bridge-Builder Award was created to honor the duplicate bridge player whose honesty, integrity, competence, zeal, and leadership -in short, professionalism- have earned the respect of the duplicate bridge playing community by playing and participating in the game in the manner in which all should.

It publicly recognizes one who continually strives to balance respect for the game with the competitive spirit of each hand, and in so doing:

  • Deals honestly with opponents at all times
  • Invests the time and energy necessary to improve play
  • Conducts oneself with dignity and decorum
  • Inspires others to act nobly and professionally
  • Encourages others to learn the game

Thank you to The Longest Day supporters!

Kudos to the players who participated in all three games of The Longest Day! And many many heartfelt thanks to everyone who played and contributed and helped raise money to try to find a way to help cure this disease!

Additionally we want to thank Co-Chairs Linda Powers and Jane Ettelson for raising $74,000 for the Alzheimers' Association. The hard work by them and their committee, and the wonderful generosity of our players, allowed the St. Louis Bridge Center to place second among participating ACBL Bridge Clubs for money raised for this cause. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, December 20 at 6:30 and plan to play in our Longest Night Game to help us continue the effort to find a cure for this disease.

Celebrating Seniors

SLBC members Bill Canfield and Tom Oppenheimer were featured on a recent KSDK broadcast celebrating Senior Citizen Day. They remind us that playing bridge keeps our minds young. Please click on the link to view the segment.

    Zero Tolerance Policy

Our Board of Directors strongly believe that all experiences at St. Louis Bridge Center should be positive and friendly. As such, we have addopted a "Zero Tolerance" Policy that is strictly enforced at all games. Click here to see the policy.

    The Common Game

SLBC is affiliated with "The Common Game". This program allows players to compare scores among our club with those who have played the hand at clubs around the country. Separately, analysis of the bid and play of certain hands are provided each day. Click here to learn more.

Click the link on the left "Results - Common Game" to view game results.

    Swing Players Needed

This program is important to allow us to always guarantee a partner for players that show up without a partner. You can pick a day of the week, or certain days where you agree to come to a game and be a swing player if needed. If you play that day, you play for FREE. If you aren’t needed, you receive a FREE game pass for another day. So you are helping the Center AND earning a free game regardless of whether you play that day or not.

    Free Training Lessons

We have a section on our website for local pros and teachers to publish bridge lessons for the benefit of our members. You can click on the link on the left to access these lessons. We encourage all local pros and teachers to consider submitting lessons for publishing on behalf of our members.

St. Louis Bridge Center is dedicated to teaching and growing the game of bridge in the St. Louis community. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced bridge members to share their knowledge.

    Game Scrip

Remember to buy game scrip! They are available in packs of 10 for $100. Each scrip is redeemable for admission to any regularly priced game. We hope you find this a much more efficient way to pay for games.
